Andalucia

Andalucia is the perfect destination to come and ride your road bike throughout the year, whether it is a winter training camp, Sportive preperation or you just want to get away and ride in a warmer climate then visit the Andalucian Cycling Experience in Montecorto.

You can fly to Malaga airport from almost all the main airport in the UK and it only takes approximately 3 hours. So all you need to do to get your face in the sun and feel the warmth on your back as your ride through the most beautiful ‘Pueblos Blancos’ (White Villages) in Spain is to get yourself a Bike Box from Bike Box Online, pack your trusty steed, book a flight and the let the Andalucian Cycling Experience take care of everything else. Established in 2005 they are the longest running road cycling tour operator in Andalucia and their knowledge of the area will ensure you get the most out of your time there.

OLYMPUSThe ‘must do’ rides are the Puerto de Las Palomas (12.5k climb) and the Puerto El Boyar (15k climb) two Cat 1 climbs right on our doorstep, you can also ride down to the Costa del Sol and dip your toes in the Med before riding back via Las Penas Blancas (15k climb) or Puerto Madrono (20k climb). Since 2010 all of these climbs have been featured in the Vuelta Espana and/or Vuelta de Andalucia.

For those of you on the look out for a challenge the local Sportive is up there amongst the toughest. La Sufrida (The Suffering) which was recently featured in The Cyclist magazine is another ‘must do’ ride. The long option is 192km with 5200m of ascent and the short option is 138km with 3800m of ascent both Puerto Las Palomas and El Boyar feature in La Sufrida which is held at the end of May each year.
